  • Preparation
    Choose a dark color for the foreground #465405 1, and off-white #fffff0 for the background
    Change the material of the foreground into a Foreground-Background gradient – with these settings

    Switch background color into pattern

    and search my pattern in the drop list:

    To start this lesson your material palette looks like this:

Feel free to change the opacity and blend mode from the layers if you work with different colors

The lesson

  1. File – New – New Image - transparent checked
    Color: off-white: #FFFFF0

  2. Selections –Select All
  3. Selections – Modify - Contract

  4. Flood fill with the pattern (click with the right mouse button to do so)

  5. Selections – Modify - Contract 5 px
  6. Delete on your keyboard and this is the result:

    Adjust – Blur –
    Gaussian Blur radius: 50
  10. Adjust – Blur – Radial Blur with these settings:
